Service That Keeps Your Performance and Tires in Shape
The Basics of Wheel Alignment
Wheel alignment is an important service for all makes and models. If the angles of your wheels get thrown off, whether from a deep pothole or a worn part, numerous aspects of your car and its performance can be affected. For instance, you may experience poor handling, premature tire wear, suspension damage, or increased fuel usage. Wheel alignment service consists of a thorough inspection using advanced technology that corrects the angles that aren’t to OEM specifications. The three angles that we check are camber, caster, and toe. Camber is the inward/outward tilt of the wheel viewed from the top, caster is the forward/backward tilt of the steering axis, and toe measures how much the wheels turn in/out in a straight position. If we find that your vehicle is presenting too much camber or toe-out, we are here to rectify it. At Chapman’s Automotive in Craig, Colorado, we are experienced and trained in performing wheel alignment services. We offer front-wheel, four-wheel, and thrust-angle alignments in our auto shop, conducted by our ASE-Certified technicians. To learn more, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 970-824-4912.

Signs of Misaligned Wheels
Wheel alignment falls under the preventative maintenance umbrella, but it’s often not needed as frequently as other services, such as oil changes and tire rotations. When you visit our auto shop regularly for service, we’ll check your car’s alignment for any abnormality and make recommendations for service as necessary. However, there are a handful of symptoms of misalignment you may be able to recognize on your own. If you notice that your vehicle pulls to the right or left when driving, that can indicate the alignment is off or that your tires are wearing down unevenly. You also want to watch your steering wheel when driving. Are you maintaining a straight course but have to keep your steering wheel at an angle to do so? It could be due to misalignment. If your tires are wearing excessively or unevenly, it means more pressure is being put on one side of the vehicle, which is often an indication of an alignment problem. You may also notice vibrations from your steering wheel, bumpier ride, vehicle shaking, or steering wheel not staying straight. Pay attention to how your vehicle responds when you drive straight, and regularly check your tread to determine if it’s time for wheel alignment service! Of course, we are always here to help out, too, with inspections and answers to your questions.
